He filmed around 20 documentaries and shorts in addition to around a hundred features since 1966, like The Day of Dignity (2004), Anbar and the Colors (2001) and A Letter to the Governor (1998). Farag also served as a professor at the Higher Institute of Cinema since 1980 and head of Cinematography Department (1998 – 2009) and a member of the Supreme Council of the Cairo International Film Festival since 1999. He also served as Jury member at the National Film Festival 2007 and of the Arab Competition of Cairo Film Festival Cairo 2007.
